Years ago, when my two children were younger, I often took them to the library. They participated in the summer reading program and always loved story time. So when I was asked to stop by the Covedale library to congratulate some of the young people who are participating in the summer reading program, I was more than happy to do it.

Mark your calendars for a fundraiser this fall!  It will be on August 31 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at Price Hill Chili.  More details to follow.

After nearly a year of fighting, and a few small victories along the way, I successfully sponsored language to guarantee chartered non-public (Catholic) schools additional state funding. I have worked closely with the Catholic Conference and local Catholic school officials this past year to advocate for fair and effective funding of our Catholic schools, and together we have taken small steps toward securing resources for these schools. 

 
 
            Last year marked the 14th straight year that Hamilton County has seen an increase in the rate of home foreclosures. In May of last year, the Ohio House of Representatives passed meaningful foreclosure prevention legislation (House Bill 3) to help people stay in their homes and stabilize our struggling neighborhoods. House Bill 3 has been languishing in the Ohio Senate since that time. Interested party meetings have halted and conversations with the Senate have stalled. 
 

 
Please join Denise as she kicks off her reelection campaign for the 31st House District at Arnold’s, Cincinnati’s oldest bar and tavern, on April 8th (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.)!  Arnold’s is located at 210 E. Eighth Street in downtown.  The kick-off will be in the outside courtyard.   There will be plenty of food, refrehsments, and live music.  Donations will be accepted. 

My February town hall meeting will be held Thursday, February 18th at 7:00pm at the Dunham Recreation Complex (in the Allen House Building).  All are welcome to attend!

I am pleased to be a member of the organizing committee for the upcoming "Energy Summit" on Thursday, February 18th at 5:30 at the Elder Schaeper Center.  Merchants organizations from East and West Price Hill, Westwood, Cheviot and Queensgate are sponsoring the summit, along with Price Hill Will and the Green Contractors Coalition.  There will be a panel discussion regarding energy credits and incentives available to small business owners to retrofit their businesses and become more energy efficient.  Panel participants include the Ohio Dept.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel my monthly office hours at the Front Porch Coffeehouse this morning due to the snow.  The coffeehouse was not open for business.  I regret any inconvenience this might have caused.  My next session will be March 13th from 9::00 - 10:30 at the Front Porch...  weather permitting.  Come by for a great cup of coffee, on me!
